The mission of the guidance counselors at Gardiner Regional Middle School is to provide a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses the academic, career, and personal/social development of all students.
Services
|
Classroom Guidance All students receive classroom guidance weekly in middle school. Topics covered include social and communication skills, conflict resolution, working in groups, goal-setting, bullying, tolerance, career exploration, and future planning. |
Small Group Counseling
Small group counseling, which involves a number of students working on shared tasks and developing supportive relationships in a group setting, is an efficient, effective and positive way of providing direct service to students with academic, career and social/emotional developmental issues and situational concerns. (ASCA) Commonly run groups include social skills and academic/organizational groups. |
Individual Counseling
Individual counseling is short-term and solution-focused. I use a cognitive-behavioral approach to counseling, where students and I work together to come up with practical ways to manage a variety of issues. |
